Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

• 15 counts of assault.
• 17 counts of assault by penetration.
• 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
• Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
• 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
