Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.

'Major setback' for the English camp after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler increased the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".

The concluding match of the series at the SCG starts at the end of the week.

England have been without strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on the current trip.

A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, then making 28 while batting as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he came back on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a variation to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
