The City of Angels witnessed widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Fans across the globe joined local residents in jubilation, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Massive Crowds
Local celebrations featured a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties throughout the city.
Online footage depict countless of Angelenos flooding downtown streets, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the championship trophy proudly.
“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at Dodger Stadium, where the players walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the stadium’s outfield.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began well before the parade, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the roads of the city center on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, commented plainly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I adore this team. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the rally. Recordings from the gathering seem to depict him taking the stage to a combination of cheers and jeers, with negative shouts interrupting his speech.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An estimated 225,000 people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“It seems it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
