Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.
Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.
“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach commented.
“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”
He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they back me.”
He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game so far so let’s see.”
Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.
“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”
He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”
“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with outcomes like these.”
He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”
“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”
“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
