Viktor Gyokeres joined the Gunners from Sporting during the offseason

Gunners striker Viktor Gyokeres was left out from the new manager's maiden Sweden team selection, while Reds forward Alexander Isak has earned inclusion

The Arsenal forward is set for more assessments in the coming days following fears he suffered a muscle problem during Arsenal's English top flight victory at the Clarets last weekend

Gyokeres sat out the Gunners' European win versus Slavia Prague earlier this week

Isak Returns

The Liverpool striker, absent from action since late October because of muscle issues, was selected for the World Cup fixtures against Switzerland (November 15th) and Slovenia (18 November)

Other England-based Call-ups

  • Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, who is recovering from a head injury
  • Magpies wide player Anthony Elanga

These players were included in Potter's England-based contingent selected by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham boss the new Swedish coach

Potter's Role

The English manager took over by Sweden originally on a short-term basis on 20 October, under four weeks following he was dismissed by the Hammers

Previous manager the Danish coach was fired after the national team's setback against the Kosovan team in mid-October, an outcome which rendered straight qualification from their World Cup group unattainable

Present Standing

The Swedish team find themselves bottom of their qualifying group having just one point from their opening four games

Even if they don't manage to secure second place, they may yet participate in the World Cup play-offs because of their performance in the latest UEFA competition
