The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on positions in a global football capacity within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League under Arne Slot, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.”

“Being 58, so I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances would need to occur to tempt his return to management, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip media briefings multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. Jota lost his life in a road accident with his brother in July.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. No one within the club would cite it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
