The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they toasted the pig's pardon.
