Trio Shortlisted for Young Sports Star Award

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a historic innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The finalists were unveiled on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.

The show will be televised from 19:00 GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She entered the fray to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.

Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin came in second place in the season's run tally and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it motivates more young women to get into cricket."
