Ways the Denver Broncos together with their 'play-dough' QB can stop the Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six in the NFL season and following last week's talk about two top teams as possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games was the number of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.

But it was positive to see how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver have the top defender in CB their star corner. They rank first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that contest.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers but they could position two linebackers in the interior then drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

New tight end their tight end has stepped up big while new running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.

It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to pass anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he's so athletic.

His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the field vertically side to side. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really develop him how he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to face a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold their division. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.

It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
